Quality Assurance

IES, Inc. performs a 100% inspection on all assemblies.

Most contract manufacturers utilize 1% and 5% AQL samples, and reject lots if defects are found. This means that 80%-90% of their circuit boards are shipped without inspection. IES, Inc. feels this exposes customers to field failures, thus IES, Inc. does not use sampling to gauge the quality of its product.

IES, Inc. utilizes only the IPC-A-610 document for solder joint criteria. Our Quality Inspectors are professionally trained to IPC Class III standards. There are three classes to the IPC-A-610E. The class II standard is recognized for commercial and industrial applications while the class III is recognized for medical and military applications.

Assemblies shipped out of IES, Inc. meet or exceed class III standards.

ISO 9001:2008 Certified

We are pleased to announce that IES,Inc. is ISO 9001-2008 certified!

Industrial Electronics Services, Inc. announced today that it is among the first companies to achieve the recently released International Organization for Standardization (ISO) ISO 9001:2008 certification requirements for its manufacturing operations in Gray, Tennessee.

The ISO 9001 Quality Standard is an international standard that is recognized and used by over 150 countries worldwide. It establishes a common framework for organizations to document, control, monitor, review and continuously improve their businesses. By completing the certification to the ISO 9001:2008 standard, Industrial Electronics Services demonstrates highly effective business processes, commitment to continuous quality improvement and a focus on customer satisfaction.

“We are very proud of all our employees and their commitment to quality,” said Industrial Electronics Services’ CEO, Larry Mullins. “Our focus has always been customer satisfaction and delivery of the highest quality products and services in the industry. Being one of the first companies to receive the newly updated ISO 9001:2008 certification demonstrates Industrial Electronics Services continued commitment to quality in every aspect of our business.”

Mullins added, "A quality-based culture is an important characteristic of a successful company -- and this certification validates our commitment to quality throughout our organization.”

This is an extension of Industrial Electronics Services original ISO 9001:2000 certification. The company achieved its original ISO 9001:2000 certification in June 2005, and has since maintained its certification by participating in bi-annual audits, complying with the strict requirements of quality standards. In December 2008, the ISO amended its requirements with the release of ISO 9001:2008.

ISO 9001:2008 certification recognizes organizations that can link business objectives with operating effectiveness. Companies that achieve ISO 9001:2008 certifications must demonstrate effective implementation of documentation and records management, top management’s commitment to their customers, establishment of clear policy, good planning and implementation, good resource management, efficient process control, measurement and analysis and continual improvement.
